The Ensamble Aural was founded in 2017 on the initiative of composer Luis Tenaglia as a forum for reflection on and the promotion of contemporary music in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina. Since then, it has continued to work with young composers from around the world, who have written pieces especially for the group. In 2018, in collaboration with the Academia Filarmónica de Mar del Plata, it launched the "Concurso de jóvenes compositores, Premio Ensamble Aural", which aims to encourage musical creation in Mar del Plata. Also since 2018, the ensemble has performed regularly as part of the "La experiencia abstracta" series in various venues across the city, premiering numerous works commissioned for the ensemble, as well as repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries, alongsied leading soloists such as the Estonian singer Iris Oja and the Argentine trumpeter Valentín Garvie.
